Common Questions
It comes down to feel, control, and simplicity.
With a hand pump, you can actually feel how the stone is reacting as you apply pressure. That feedback matters—it helps you read the split, adjust on the fly, and avoid blowing out a piece.
You also get precise control over how much force you’re applying and when. No sudden hits, no overdriving it—just steady, controlled pressure exactly where you want it.
And then there’s simplicity. No cords, no hoses, no power source. Nothing to set up, nothing to maintain beyond the basics. It’s always ready to go, wherever you are.
Maybe.
We’ve looked at it, and we’re not against it—but it has to make sense. The goal isn’t just to add power, it’s to improve the tool without giving up what makes it work so well: control, portability, and simplicity.
If we build one, it’ll be because it actually adds value—not just because it can be done.
Stonekraken comes ready to go out of the box.
It includes 4" teeth installed, a 1/4" allen wrench for quick tooth changes, a clamp to secure it to your work platform, and all warranty documentation and BVA hydraulic manuals.
We usually throw in a few extra goodies as well.
Stonekraken is built for the long haul.
It’s made from hardened, high-strength materials and designed to hold up to real job site use—not just look good out of the box. With basic care and routine lubrication, it’s the kind of tool you should expect to keep using for years.
This isn’t a disposable tool. It’s built to stay in service.
It depends on the stone and how often you’re using it.
That said, they’re built to last—most users can expect years of use and thousands of splits before needing replacement. Harder stone and heavy daily use will wear them faster, but they’re designed to hold up under real job site conditions.
Very little.
Keep it clean and lightly lubricated, and it will keep working. The 3 main pivot pins should get an occasional light coat of Moly grease to keep everything moving smoothly.
The black oxide machined parts can benefit from a light wipe of oil now and then to help protct against surface corrosion.
No motor, no electrical- nothing complicated to maintain.
Just a few for now- 4" and 6" teeth.
We've got more in the works, but we take our time. Everything we release goes through real field testing to make sure it holds up before it ever gets to you.
Have an idea or need something specific? Let us know- we're always open to feedback from the field.
We keep it simple. Stonekraken is backed by a 1-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. If something isn't right, we'll make it right.
The hydraulic components are covered separately by the manufacture with a 1-year warranty. We will help you navigate that if needed- no run around.
